Native USDC & CCTP V2 are coming to Sei: What You Need to Know

The Sei Development Foundation is thrilled that native USDC and CCTP V2 are coming to Sei, a major infrastructure upgrade that unlocks seamless cross-chain value flows for the ecosystem.

Why This Matters

The Sei ecosystem saw an 3691% increase in daily EVM transactions and a 794% increase in TVL since Sei V2 launched a year ago with a growing number of developers building on Sei’s high performance EVM L1. Native USDC integration represents the next phase of Sei’s evolution: transforming Sei from a high-performance chain into a cross-chain liquidity hub.

This isn't just another stablecoin integration. It's infrastructure that enables:

  • Crosschain transfers across 13 blockchains with 1:1 capital efficiency
  • Direct institutional on-ramps through Circle Mint for eligible users
  • Frictionless user experiences that bridged assets simply can't deliver

What Changes for Developers

Today, USDC on Sei arrives via Noble through IBC. While functional, it lacks the ERC-20 composability and regulatory features that unlock next-generation use cases.

The upcoming launch of native USDC & CCTP V2 on Sei's EVM brings:

  • Access to the world’s largest regulated1 stablecoin
  • Full ERC-20 standard compatibility
  • Built-in cross-chain transfers via CCTP V2
  • Access to Circle's institutional infrastructure onchain

Whether you're building DeFi protocols, gaming economies, or payment rails, native USDC provides a stable foundation your users expect.

The Migration Path

The Sei Development Foundation and Circle will work as closely as possible with the ecosystem to provide a smooth transition from USDC for Sei via Noble to native USDC. While USDC for Sei via Noble will continue to function post-launch, the Sei Development Foundation and Circle will work with the ecosystem on a migration plan to help shift liquidity from USDC for Sei via Noble to native USDC on Sei over time.

What's Next

Sei is more than just the fastest L12, it’s key infrastructure for cross chain finance. With sub-second finality, parallel execution, and now seamless USDC flows, the last barriers between speed and liquidity are removed.

Markets Move Faster on Sei.
